Wim Hof Breathing as a Shortcut to Bliss and Gateway to Meditation

Breath work for healing is not a new concept. Breathing exercises have arisen all over the world and are aimed at a variety of goals, including mindfulness, stress reduction or even getting the most out of an exercise routine. Take the Yoga breath, “Breath of Fire,” for example, which is said to help energize, and is thus great for the morning.

Perhaps, then, a commitment to any breathing exercise would have had a profound effect on me, had I encountered it at the right moment in time. However, of all the breathing exercises I’ve practiced throughout my life, Wim Hof breath is the first I’ve found an easy devotion to.

Top 5 Writers Who Will Make You Rethink Drinking

The archetype of the hard-drinking writer did not come about by chance: there are many examples of great writers who were known to drink to excess.

While this myth is sometimes romanticized— or alcohol is even given some of the credit for their literary genius—much more frequently these gifted writers were able to create in spite of, not because of, booze.

For the 5 writers below, the bottle wreaked havoc on their personal lives, and contributed to untimely deaths. Continue reading Top 5 Writers Who Will Make You Rethink Drinking

How God’s Whisper Changed My Destructive Alcoholic Life

It is unfortunate that this was not the lesson that I learned until I turned 37 years old, I was none wiser. So what does all this mean? What does my story really sound like?

Well for the most part it is pretty normal for someone to have a story like mine. Filled with hate and discouragement, addiction, and failed ways of living. I was materialistic and lived a life that I could not afford. With not concern or worry about others, always seeking to find someone to love me because I felt that I was the perfect person.

Looking forever in the wrong places and did not care about the consequences. However my life turned upside down in 2016 after an adulterous affair with a woman who was not my wife, and the loss of promotion at work.

The scare of the loss of my family, and no regard to the people who I love, why? Because it was all about me. My selfish self centered way of life finally caught up to me. I couldn’t do one thing about if, I was at my rock bottom, alcohol had completely consumed me, but this also was not the first time either.

How Plant Medicine and Energy Work Reduced my PTSD

The beautiful thing about plant medicine and energy work is they meet you right where you are. Sometimes that means meeting you in a place where little everyday events and conversations send you straight into a panicked flight-or-fight mode.

Sometimes it means meeting you in a place of calm where you can expand your consciousness outward and watch how life flows through you and through all the rest of the Universe.

This is a story of how being a trauma survivor has guided me to certain plants and energy work and how this has helped me find some clarity and peace. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is different for everyone.

CBD Helped the Pain Scoliosis and Spine Problems Have Caused Me

For as long as I can remember, chronic pain has controlled my life. I have had to anticipate it, prepare for it, plan around it and work through it nearly every day since I was diagnosed with scoliosis in sixth grade. I had an “S” curve – my spine was 25 degrees on top and 26 degrees on the bottom.

Since my diagnosis 12 years ago, my life has continued to center around me being in and out of different doctor’s offices, physical therapy clinics and hospitals trying to decrease or maintain my curve and manage my pain. I wore this ugly plastic Boston brace for several years before switching to a night-time brace, and ultimately I had to get my spine fused (T5 to L2) in June of 2013.

As a current cancer patient I know that uneasy feeling in the back of my throat and the pit of my stomach all too well the increased saliva (spit) in my mouth that usually leads to vomiting.

From Honor Student, to Klonopin Addict, and Back Again

When you’re talking about addiction recovery everyone has their own horror story about what it took for them to get clean.

Some people will tell you that they had to go through a horrible rehab experience, while others will tell you they toughed it out and quit cold turkey.

I myself have a pretty gruesome tale of woe but, no matter what the story is, the first thing that you need to know about addiction, is that it is no easy task to just stop using.

Blessed Are Those Who Mourn, For They Will Be Comforted

This is a short story of how God helped me deal with the death of my best friend.

I was lucky. I had a best friend who loved life and enjoyed spending it with me. We were much alike in our interests, beliefs, and dreams. Every day was an adventure and we were so very happy.

Then, in the doctor’s office, the diagnosis came and those dreaded words: The cancer is terminal. He has only a few days to live.
